Slightly renamed from clonezilla
I use PVM and LVM all the time. it is very simple to use, if you
know all the right command lines. There are only about 8 or 10 that
you really have to know.

The main thing with LVM is to name the logical volumes with meaningful
names, NOT lv0 and lv1 ...

E.g. I name the LVs for the home directories as user1, user2, etc..

So when I mount the directory, the partition id is something like
/dev/mapper/vg0/home if all home directories are in this lv.

I can give you some excerpts from my history commands list for
actual examples if you like.

The more interesting things are how to resize a partition without having to copy anything, etc.. PVM and LVM have definitely simplified
my sysadmin problems with disks, partitions, and file systems.

Clonezilla is awesome but not something I would give to grandma. Any
cloning software is destructive *crap I cloned the wrong way* and therefore
wouldn't recommend it to anyone not familiar. These kinds of things I am
happy to do for people as a tech person, spyware removal is really the only
thing I hate. The thing I like most about Clonezilla is it shows drive
serials and other information which makes it easier to determine which way
you are going especially if you have to of the same model drive which I
often run into when setting up offices and labs.

As far as backup topics, I think that it is awesome and by no means boring.
I always like going over this stuff and swapping ideas as I deal with this
frequently enough. Just a few hours ago I dealt with my first LVM mounting
of an old Fedora install onto a new CentOS install to copy files. I have
mounted ext partitions plenty of times but had to dig around a bit to figure
out how to handle LVMs. A bunch of the websites I came across were
incorrect in their information. I would love to have a meeting with people
that have already dealt with all this kind of stuff and figured out the
easiest or fastest ways to work around things like this.
