Thanks Bruce

I had run across this review on

he mentions that system was pretty bad out of the box, but a ROM update made
the system work well and notes that Gingerbread is "on the way". What I
don't know is - will Gingerbread be an entirely different device, or a flash
to the existing system? If a flash, then it could be worth jumping a little
early. If not, I certainly can wait.

Very nice. Thanks.

I have a Thunderbolt now - generally really like it (hey - I am comparing it
to a Storm 1, so my standards are low!), but while watching a CNET review of
the 6" ViewSonic device, it was amusing to see that they just splatted the
Android system on a 6" device with no phone, and didn't bother to take out
the phone bits :-) Apparently, the gTablet is a bit more refined - no
indication that it has any phone bits left in. (There's an amusing bit in
the video with the reviewer trying to use the thing as a phone....) My home
PC is getting quite old (10 years?) and my Linux system is a (free!)
Thinkpad of similar age - both starting to show their age. I'm in a position
where I could pick up something new, have been kind of wondering if a tablet
would be reasonable and this one certainly is at a very nice price point.

Other thoughts on the gTablet or advice/suggestions otherwise are welcomed.
