I found a list of verified working SD cards here:

   http://elinux.org/RPi_SD_cards#Working_.2F_Non-working_SD_cards

The fastest listed are "class 10", but note that there are non-working cards 
of all speeds.  Every Lexar model seems to work (which mirrors my experience 
with Lexar CF cards when using Linux).
