In the computer I built for my Dad I used an SSD for the OS (this is my first
use of an SSD), but put the /home directory/partiton on a HDD. Some people go
through the effort of making sure that the logs go to the HDD insted of the
SSD, but for a Desktop box there aren't a lot of these so I didn't bother;
we'll see how long that lasts. [Linus Torvalds recently had the SSD drive he
was using for Linux development up and quit completely on him, and I didn't
hear if he was ever able to get any data off that drive after the failure.]

I've never used a SSHD drive yet.

Side note: along with the occasional FPS & RTS game I'm getting into R/C
flight sims out of necessity -- practicing on the computer helps not wreck a
real R/C plane. Ailerons and rudder are reversed when an R/C plane is flying
towards you, and it's easy to get disoriented. [Happened to someone I was
with, so I'm also spending free time fixing a cracked fuselage.]
