Don't do that. .0 is the network's address, and you should *never*
assign it to a networked device. Use .2 and see what happens. I'm not
entirely certain whether you should use CD or not. FWIW, I *think* I've
used null-modem without CD to use samba over a serial link. (Crazy? Who
me? OTOH, might try that again, since Linux can easily use a serial port
@ 460k8. pppd and Miami should be easy enough to set up.)
