Well most people have said that it performs as well or better than other
boards out there. It seems, however, that the speed king is still the
A4066. One advantage that the X-Surf and other newer boards have is that
they are less likely to have problems with modern equipment, such as
cable/DSL "modems". Some people have reported problems with certain
drivers and cards, such as the A2065 and the Hydra. For what its worth,
however, I have been using an A2065 for about a year and half now without
any problems. I have connected it to 3Com routers and hubs as well as
Cisco routers. It has not given me a problem.
As to MNI, there isn't one available yet. Holger would first need an
X-Surf board in order write the driver.

Promiscous mode allows an Ethernet card to "snoop" on all traffic that
shares the same cable. Normally, a card will only receive packets that
are meant for itself and ignore all others. Promiscous mode is great for
diagnosing problems with other computers. It can also be used to read
traffic meant for other computers. Hope this helps.
