OK. A few questions about webservers and the Amiga:
1) Is it possible, with Miami or MiamiDx, to have an Amiga webserver answering to more
than one IP? namely, if I wanted to have several websites on one physical machine,
their content being separate, of course but then map different IPs onto the different
content sets, is that possible? I know that Unix apache setups, IIS, etc. are all
doing this, and given that Miami is a port of the BSD Tcp stack, it should certainly
be possible . . .?
In setting up Arexx webserver, when you put the settings into Miami/MiamiDx, it seems
to imply that you can simply attach different instances to different ports/IPs, but I
thought I'd ask if anyone's tried it (with Arexx webserver or any other Amiga
webserver).
2) same question, but then I want to add unique domain names to those multiple IPs,
again the same Amiga is answering all the requests from the visitors, however, and
thus has multiple domain names to listen to as well?
3) If I own a domain name already, say for argument it's www.kevin.com. If I set up
multiple webservers in my LAN (this time, actually physically distinct machines,
though), does my ownership of the domain name allow me to create multiple variations
of same, ie names like:
downloads.kevin.com
news.kevin.com
mail.kevin.com
and so on? I don't have to register all those variations with Network Solutions (or
their competition) too, do I? Can I just add them to my DNS server (or that of my
ISP) and then they will propogate across the net sometime thereafter? These variation
names *would* have distinct, Internet IPs.
