I am running an A3000 on a hub connected to a NT4 PC using WinGate 4.0 as the proxy (Previously v2x and v3x). I have been using WinGate for a couple of years now and it has worked perfectly for me. You have to do 2 things: 1st) set up Miami to use SOCKS exclusively. This will prevent any problems resulting with programs that do not support parameters for proxy settings. Hard code in the client IP address. It is best not to us DHCP because WinGate can not easily identify you host name, if you don't have an MS Client compatible protocol installed, such as Samba. After you do this disable the proxy settings for ALL programs that support it. All programs will now work as if they are connected directly to the internet and should be configured that way.. 2nd) Either make sure you set the WinGate Guest account active or, if you have WinGate Pro, define an account alias for you Amiga, specifying the IP you gave the Amiga.. Go into the WinGate DHCP zone properties and remove the IP you gave the Amiga from the list of available IPs that the DHCP can use to give out to other clients on your network. If you only have to the 1 PC and 1 Amiga on the network, you can skip this step. If you have any problems and more questions, feel free to contact me directly. BTW: If you DL samba_2.0.6.lha and it's related archives from AmiNet, your Amiga will also be able to share its drives and printers for access by the PC and conversely be able to access the PC drives and printers from the Amiga. http://www.amigasamba.org/ has a lot of good information on setting Samba up. Does anybody knows how to configure MIAMI to use a proxy/gateway? I have a Amiga 2050 running MIAMI, and a Windows NT 4.0 Server running WINGATE. Which settings do I have to make that the Amiga uses (for example) BIG_SERVER on port 8080? Thanx! Marcus -- To unsubscribe send "unsubscribe miami-talk-ml" to "[EMAIL PROTECTED]".
