Hi All,
In case I did not tell any of you, I solved the problem I was
having with Miami, when I tried going through a different phone
line. It was the phone company fouling me up, not Miami or the
ISP.
To recap, I had tried using my Dad's phone line with my Amiga.
I have "call waiting" service, which requires me to dial "*70"
before I dial the rest of the numbers, if I wish to disable the
"Call Waiting," for that one phone call. Therefore, for me to
be assured that my ISP connections will not be interrupted, mid-
stream, I must switch off the "Call Waiting" service. This
works fine. Now, my Dad does not have "Call Waiting" service,
but he using the same local service I do (Verizon), and, for all
intents and purposes, his service is like mine; or, so I thought.
After repeated failures and many courteous comments from all
of you, I tried a simple thing. I deleted the "*70" from the
phone numbers, and saved that as "Dad.ISP.default." Then, I
loaded that default, and, Wham!, I am connected and on the Web.
Imagine, all the headaches because of the inability of the phone
company to ignore "*70," when it is not necessary. Simple answer
to big headache.
