It looks like you understood it pretty well. :-)

Yes, nullser simulates pairs of serial ports interconnected by null-modem
cables.  You can get it from Aminet comm/misc.  Be sure to use a
different subnet for the nullser link than for the Ethernet if you want
other machines on the LAN to be able to talk to the Mac.
