Strange indeed!
I can only assume the purpose is to offer some security from other users
using the same base station, forming in effect a wireless LAN.

Unfortunately I've used up my free trial time with all the gateway software
that seemed to have enough user config options to get what I need.

I was playing with something called WinRoute Lite and succeeded in making
the pptp connection (although not reliably). But I could not make YAM or
IBrowse work through it.

I guess I'll have to buy something and resume my research or learn to live
with using the PC as the gateway (the idea being if I could make the pptp
connect with Miami the Amiga would become the gateway, although the
physical gateway would still be the PC). Oh yeah, you already said it was
strange....
