IMPORTANT: Please DO NOT forward this information outside of the
MiamiDx mailing list, i.e. DO NOT post in on Usenet, amiga-news.de
Czech Amiga News etc. yet. There will be a separate announcement
later that can be forwarded. At the moment I would like to keep the
number of readers small so I can get feedback from some testers.
Thanks.
The MiamiDx 1.0 release (complete with demo mode, docs and installation)
is available now. Links are (intentionally) not on my web site yet,

Changes since 0.9m:
- Bug fix: MPPC compression caused crashes unless MPPE was negotiated as
well.
- Bug fix: "MiamiNetStat -sL interface" would show bogus buffer overrun
counts for interface that are offline.
- Bug fix: The dialer could throw Enforcer hits during startup on
machines with an extremely high CPU load.
- Bug fix: Deleting an interface entry would not properly update the
control panel.
- Bug fix: Falling back to a default gateway with a lower priority
did not work if the corresponding interface was a point-to-point
interface.
- Bug fix: With net.inet.tcp.fastlocal=1 out-of-band TCP data on
localhost connections was not forwarded correctly.
- Bug fix: MiamiTelnet: scrolling in directions other than up would
call the broken function ScrollWindowRaster() in Kick 3.x with
unpredictable results.
- Bug fix: MiamiTelnet: Ctrl-M would generate a linefeed even when
linefeed-newlinemode was deactivated.
- Bug fix: MiamiTelnet: Eliminated a memory leak.
- Bug fix: MiamiNetStat: "-Q" is now listed in the "usage" output and
no longer causes local sockets to be displayed.
- Bug fix: plain.MiamiPanel: sometimes the font used in the control
panel would have the wrong size.
- MPPC now only decompresses data, but never compresses data, because
Microsoft's MPPC decompressor in Win-NT (and possibly other Windows
versions) appears to be broken in strange ways...
- The automatic firewall now passes DHCP packets for interfaces that
have DHCP running. This should avoid problems with lease renewal.
- Increased the width of Src-IP and Dst-IP fields in firewall
configuration to allow IP address and netmask to fit.
- After loading a settings file SysCtl entries not present in the
settings file are now added to the SysCtl database with default
values.
- Added SysCtl entries "net.inet.ip.portrange.*" and socket option
IP_PORTRANGE.
- Added Database category "IP-NAT" to customize the rules that trigger
the FTP and IRC-DCC modules in the NAT engine. The "FTP" and "IRC-DCC"
switches in the TCP/IP->LAN-Connect windows have been removed.
- Added option to emulate the broken Windows-9x DHCP behavior (as
expected by some Win-NT DHCP servers) of sending a user-defined
pseudo-hostname in DHCP option 12 for ID purposes.
- Added restricted evaluation mode.
- Limited the number of pending interface reports for the control
panel to one.
- Removed all references to SAS/C time handling code and ENV:TZ.
Modules that need to convert between local time and GMT now use
locale.library.
- Improved implementation of "Get time": now no longer blocks main
GUI task during the DNS lookup and "time" protocol exchange.
- Increased length of login id/password fields to 79 characters.
- ARexx ISONLINE without parameters and miami.library/MiamiIsOnline()
with NULL or "mi0" now return 1 if one or more interfaces marked
as "Internet" are online or if the "GUI default interface" is online,
and zero otherwise.
- The automatic firewall now by default passes incoming packets to
ports 49152-65535 to comply with new IETF rules on port assignments.
- Added MUI bubble help for all windows.
- Added context-sensitive online help.
- MiamiTCPDump, miamipcap.library, miamibpf.library, MNI drivers:
added option "-M" to connect MiamiTCPDump directly to an MNI
driver. This allows all packet types (including non-IP/Arp types)
to be dumped. MNI drivers were modified to support optional
loopback of transmitted packets to listeners.
- MiamiFtp: added workaround for Y2K bug in some FTP servers.
- miamipptp.device: added workaround for bug in some Alcatel DSL
modems.
- miamipppoe.device: added several workarounds for bugs in T-DSL
(T-Online, DTAG) DSL equipment.
- MiamiTelnet: some further enhancements to improve compatibility
to NetHack with IBMgraphics turned on in "Rogue levels".
- MiamiTelnet, miamisecureshell.library: now use IP_PORTRANGE
option to create a socket in the privileged port range.
- MiamiTelnetD: added to the distribution.
- z2-dp8390.mni: added support for the X-Surf Ethernet board.
- z2-dp8390.mni: workaround for interrupt-related anomaly in
RTL8019 chips. This should drastically speed up writing on
Ariadne-II boards.
