For those following in real time, it runs!! Ran like crap the first time around, couldn't keep it running. My heart sank as I thought about having to re-do the timing belt. Got out, lit a cigarette, sipped a beer and noticed that I took the brake booster line off to bolt that weird last ground (I gave up and used the lift point bolt).
Little bit of lifter knock, at least I hope it is. Smokey as hell on the first startup but I cleaned the pistons and moistened the cylinder walls with some oil for good luck while it was apart. I always forget about grime burning off of the exhaust manifold too. Not counting the chickens yet though, need to button up the last few things (front splash guard, sway bar, hood - not necessarily in that order) and take it for a test drive. Not couragous enough to do it tonight - I'll wait until the morning and drive it to the local mechanic/garage. Still need to do the coolant flush too. I'm exhausted and exhilarated. It's like losing my virginity all over again. I now get the "first start" videos and excitement around them on engine rebuilds. Hopefully it keeps running and I'll get to keep on feeling good about myself, at least for a little while.
