Okay, so I got the ACT Extreme clutch in (with the help of my friend who's done this countless number of times) and everything is bolted back up ... however, when the car is running, I can't put it into gear. The clutch is all the way down to the floor, and still not enough to engage the gear. I checked the master cylinder and there's no leaks, same for the slave cylinder. Also checked to make sure the slave cylinder is on right, and pushing the fork when I depress the clutch pedal.
I remember that FM sent a little note along with the clutch saying that I'll need to adjust the clutch rod, and maybe even adjust the clutch switch to gain more movement. Looking behind the clutch pedal, I clearly see the clutch rod, and I see 3 nuts on it, 2 of em (12mm) are against each other right behind the clutch pedal, one's black (the one against the clutch pedal rod) the other is bronzish that's right behind that one. Then the third nut which is further away looks like its part of the rod, and is a 10mm nut. So I've tried for hours on end without having any luck trying to loosen those nuts, last thing I did lastnight was to drench it with WD40 and let it soak in until I get back to it tonight and try yet again. But I'm sure I'll still have no luck. How did everyone else do theirs? Any hints or tips? I'm very hesitant to take any heat to it cause there's too many wires running in close proximity and the ECU is right there. As for the Clutch switch part, there's 2 17mm nuts, one towards the clutch pedal (silver in color), the other on the other side of the bracket (bronze~ish). I was able to easily loosen the bronze nut, but trying to break the silver one is also being a PITA. Should that silver one break loose or is it welded onto the bracket? I'm open to any and all suggestions ... :-) Oh, and it's a '02 Miata with the 6spd tranny if that matters at all. Thanks, Thuwa
