I admit, I loaded the NA map and did the coarse tuning and a little fine tuning.
I guess I was looking for ideas on what to do with the timing so that I can then tune the fuel appropriately. -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Thu 5/22/2008 10:54 AM To: Chad J. Perhaps having water injection and 12.5:1 at full boost helps vs. no WI and 11:1, but still.. Regardless, 24 is pretty sucky. Did you change the ECU over to NA map when you pulled the turbo? Did you retune the fuel and timing at that point?? Wally "Chad J. Last year, I removed the turbo because I couln't keep my foot out of it. That has helped. It took me from an average of 17MPG to 24. However, 24 is still icky. I've adopted several hypermiling techniques to try to reduce fuel consumption, such as starting slowly from a stop, keeping the revs down while also keeping the engine at more than 10in of vacuum. This has caused some interesting revelations. Sometimes it's best to stay in 4th and run the revs up a little further before shifting to 5th because it lets you keep the vacuum needle in the target range. So.. Now we come to the Link. What can I do with the engine management to increase economy. I'm willing to sacrifice power. Also, if reattaching the turbo can produce real gains, I'm willing to consider it.. But I'd rather not face the temptation to "put my foot in it."
