It wouldn't be hard to do. The second skin is nothing more than a sheet
of aluminum stood off the roof with approximately 1" spacers. There are
vents in the ceiling you can pop open so fresh air can circulate (and
get rammed into the interior at speed, or at least the Land Rover
equivalent of "speed"), but since they're covered by the skin they're
protected from the weather. Aerodynamically it's probably about as bad
as an empty roof rack, which is de rigueur for all SUVs already.

Bring me your CRV, I'm feeling inspired! Pay no attention to the sound
of the air saw...

Product development opportunity: Safari Tops for SUVs! I'd love
to be able to put a second layer with an air gap on the roof of my CRV.
And it's already white! (because I made the stupid choice of buying a
dark car in TX just once)

When I lived in Australia years ago, almost all the cars were
white. AC wasn't as widespread so people were smart enough to know that
white cars don't get as hot in the sun. There's a reason that my Land
Rover has a dual-layer roof with a white top on it, known as a "safari
top". A bit of attention to air flow and heat absorbtion and life gets
more comfortable.

There actually is some logic behind the thinking here - a
lighter colored car is going to be more fuel-efficient in an area with
high solar gain due to the decreased demands on the HVAC system. It's a
simple improvement. I know, I know, you can't legislate smart into
people. But as ideas go, it's not really that terrible.

I have never seen such a load of crap in my life.

                ,

How long are we going to allow this global warming
bullshit to drive all production to other countries?

How long are we going to allow "carbon tax" to send all
manufacturing to third world country's. where no restrictions exist?
(anyplace with minimal to no emission regulation at all) This will
increase the pollution world wide, and make the US less and less
attractive to production of anything . Less federal tax money from
manufacturing and loss of jobs..

Of course this will decrease pollution, due to our
inability to purchase large SUVs or even gas for anything..

So I guess it is all good.

                In a pigs eye.

This is just the beginning, unless we put an end to it
now.

                Vote wisely.

                Regards
