Your original speakers are certainly shot. Replace them (and headrest speakers)..
Go to Walmart or other discount store and pickup a set of 6.5" speakers for about $50-70. Pioneer, Sony, etc. Also, add headrest speakers. 3.5" rounds will fit in the headrests. Cheap ones are fine. Make a wiring harness if you do not have one. There is not much reason to go much more expensive in a noisy convertible. You will be amazed at the difference over the worn out speakers.
