It would have to been a large factor (in my mind, with zero information other 
than this report). With a car so willing to stop, go, and change direction it 
has to be a lack of reaction time. Road conditions look decent so the only 
other option is lack of experience with mid-engine in emergency lane change 
operations. Throw in a dash of not paying attention and the guys that do manage 
to avoid the initial wreck get caught up in the secondary wrecks.

How the first guy hit the median is a good question though. Did the back end 
step out on him when he gunned it to pass?
