A long time ago, in my youth, I joined an army. I'm pretty sure that it was the US Army, but there were times when I wasn't quite sure. This army decided to take me and a bunch of my army friends to Germany for a couple of years. The first time I was allowed to go off the base and into the city of Munich, I felt like I had been dropped onto another planet. The houses and stores looked familiar, but the words written on them conveyed no information to me. People were talking around me and at me, but I had no idea what they were saying to me or wanted me to do. Very disconcerting and dizzying. I just went through a similar experience. I went to a Computer Sales Show. $5 to get in after my senior discount and I landed right in the middle of Planet PeeCee. There were piles and piles of things that looked the stuff that's inside my Macs, you know, floppy drives, and hard drives, and motherboards and stuff. But not one piece of hardware that said it was meant to be put in or on a Mac. I did find a couple of cd's that purported to be compatible with Mac's, but I saw people looking at me suspiciously, so I put the cd's down quickly and moved away. It was amazing. The people on Planet PeeCee look just like us, but don't be fooled. They want to entrap us with their bat files and executables. In the past when I saw the ads for computer sales/shows, I wondered what Mac bargains they might hold and now I know. Like Bilbo Baggins, I've been there and back and lived to tell my tale. -- Dan Pennington Lansing
