How about the St. Johns City Park? Shade, a BUNCH of pavillions to choose from, etc., etc. I know I'm plugging, but at least then I could WALK there. It's about 20 miles north of Lansing, and is very wooded. Laser tag? Barbecue on the sledding hill?
