I use a 6100/60AV right now as my primary computer, with a Sonnet G3 card. Today I won an iMac on ebay, which I plan to use as my primary computer. I'd still like to keep the old 6100 in operation, and have a couple of questions for the networking gurus among you.
I'd like to set up an ethernet network (I have a hub) and just run the 2 machines on a peer network. What type of hardware do I need to convert the AAUI to RJ-45, and what should I expect to pay for this? Also, what software do I need to have enabled for file sharing? What about print sharing? I currently use 2 printers, both of which are set up (one at a time) using the serial port. Neither is USB capable. Primary is a Personal Laserwriter 320. Any way I can either run this off the 6100 and print from the iMac, or run it on the network from both computers? Thanks for any help anyone can give, or good web sites that can put me on the right track. I've done a menial amount of peer to peer networking at work on PCs, but I never had more than 1 mac to work with, so I'm kind of at a loss here.
