Fellow Michiganians (or Michiganders, if you prefer), We're slowly migrating our lists away from Maclaunch to Google Groups, which should eliminate most of the headaches we've had (warning messages, unsubscribe not working, full mailboxes shutting down the lists, etc.) while introducing very few new ones.
We're starting the process for MichiMac. Although you can subscribe and post today, I'd like to ask that you subscribe now and wait until we have a good membership base before you start posting to the list. Then within a week we should be able to discontinue the old Maclaunch service. This has been trial-and-error, and I've learned a fair bit about how Google Groups works. You can join the group and receive email from it easily, but you have to jump through a few hoops before it will allow you to post. To join the new group, you can go to the list FAQ and use the form on that page, go to http://groups.google.com/group/michimac to sign up, or email [EMAIL PROTECTED] You must verify your email address with Google before you can post, and that involves two emails and the links within them. It's bit cumbersome, but if it keeps the spambots away, it's worth it. 1. You will receive a confirmation email from Google Groups at your subscribed address. (You do not need a Google/Gmail address to belong to a Google group.) "To view this group on the web, or edit your subscription, you will need to create a Google Account by going to: "http://www.google.com/accounts/NewAccount?service=groups2&...."; 2. Once you do this, Google Groups will send you a second confirmation email. "Welcome to Google Accounts. To activate your account and verify your e-mail address, please click on the following link: "http://www.google.com/accounts/VE?service=groups2&...."; You will only be able to post to the list after you've responded to this email. And be careful, either of these messages might get caught in your spam filter(s) - the second one did for me. The new posting address is [EMAIL PROTECTED] I'll be updating the list FAQs to reflect all of the changes involved with migrating the list to Google Groups.
