In 3b, what HTML page would contain the link and how does it relate to anything else? I could make assumptions, but I don't think it's good to require spec readers to make assumptions. Given that, I'm also trying to determine the potential use-case for a microformat for your pavatar. So are you envisioning that someone who would leave a comment on a blog along with their name, email, and website, for example, would have a personal avatar auto-discoverable at that website? And if so, are you then envisioning that the blog software would retrieve and cache the pavatar then display it using a microformat something like this?: <img src="/pavatars/[EMAIL PROTECTED]" height=80 width=80 class="pavatar" /> BTW, In looking at your spec it claims to be "Candidate Recommendation" and uses the same format as a W3C candidate recommendations. However, when I google for "pavatar" on w3.org, there are no results [1]. Has it actually been through the W3C process[2]? Also, it appears your spec uses a "well-Known name"[3] or "/pavatar.png"[4] for which at least certain people[5][6] in the W3C would have your head for, so something tells me you've not been through the W3C process? :-) I think I like the overall idea, but if it's not part of the W3C process you really should propose it and/or make it clear that it is your own proposal and not one that has been through the W3C's process. Also, I think it could really benefit by going through the process (but if it already has, I'm surprised given the ambiguities in the spec.) -- -Mike Schinkel http://www.mikeschinkel.com/blogs/ http://www.welldesignedurls.org/ [1] http://www.google.com/search?q=pavatar+site:w3.org [2] http://www.w3.org/Consortium/Process/Process-19991111/tr.html#RecsCR [5] http://microformats.org/discuss/mail/microformats-discuss/2006-October/00646 9.html [4] http://blog.welldesignedurls.org/2006/12/20/conventions-not-constraining-req uirements/ [5] http://www.w3.org/People/karl/ [6] http://www.w3.org/People/Fielding/ _______________________________________________ microformats-discuss mailing list microformats-discuss@microformats.org http://microformats.org/mailman/listinfo/microformats-discuss
