Douglas,

Rather than trying to educt and use a pump, let nature do the work for you.
Get some spiriflex pump suction hose and get a siphon running over the top
of the dam. Then rig up a line of floats to carry the hose or pipe. Put a
stinger down and suck up the mud to be put over the top of the dam. You can use
el-cheapo plastic pipe to move the material from the far side of the pond. It
takes a bit of practice but can learn to use the stinger without plugging it
up. The spirraflex hose will allow you to easily start the siphon, this
cannot be done with rigid pipe. To make it very simple put a valve on the end of
the siphon pipe so you can easily fill the pipe to get things running. I have
seen big siphons suck rocks the size of bowling balls up and over the top of
the dam. In the beginning of the operation it is sort of like being a kid
again, moving water is fun.

Drop me a line if you need more insight.

Bob
