Yahoo has several Thousand graphic groups that a) allow HTML embedded graphics (I see a lot of e-mails on other groups where graphics show in the signature block, b) allow attached files graphics and otherwise. What Yahoo does not do is store attached files.
Based on actual experience of receiving HTML files with embedded graphics and attached graphics the limitation is not in Yahoo but in how the group is set up. Join any of the 10,000+ graphic groups in Yahoo and you'll get attached graphics. If I had to guess I'd say its because your using ASCII text instead of HTML as the group default. If you are approving every message I think that it is the approval process where the file is stripped. Yahoo will not store attached files. It will distribute the file immediately on receipt and then strips the file from the archived message.
