Hi Scott
I'm running a very low head system (approx. 12') , getting 300 to 400 watts at the batteries and am using 240VAC/1 phase to transmit over a 1000' with minimal losses. I have a transmission issue that I would like to put out on the table. I am a Renewable Energy consultant who currently has some hydro clients. One client has the following situation. 23 feet of drop (head) and 150 gpm of flow. The fellows existing renewable energy system is at 24VDC. I have looked at the Harris Permanent Magnet unit and the Canadian Stream Engine. Both units can supposedly generate around 300 watts continuously at this site. However the distance to the home is 560 feet which means a HUGE wire size for a 24VDC system. Don Harris suggested that I look into the HydroMax controller as he had heard that it might be able to make our situation more affordable. I also looked at a 3 phase system but thought that the low head made it undesirable. What do you folks recommend?
