Hi Xavi:
For microhydropower plants, tests as our experience are: - Hydraulic pressure test for penstock at 1,5 times the mx. working pressure. - Put the water flowing at penstock with bottom open, without turbine joinend, for cleaning rubish, stones, etc. that could enter during pipe mounting tasks. - New generators of good trade marks normally are tested in fabric; nothing to do the previously the start up; only check stator and rotor windings isolation. - The same as above for electronic regulators. - Check foundation bolts tightness and good grouting in the turbine-alternator base frame (30 mm grouting thickness recomended) - Check pulleys and belt transmition alignement & belts tension. - Check transmition safety guard is good and locked. - Check for foundation construction quality and support-anchorage for penstock in the external face of power house wall. - Check wire gages of all electrical installation - Check connections between ballast load resistences and electronic regulator. - Check all earth connections and earth grid as per local regulations. - Check free rotation of turbine runner and generator by hand. - Check cleanless in the forebay and trashrack, put water in the penstock slowly. - Check that a suitable vent pipe is installed upper in the penstock for water-hammer prevention. - Read carefully all Mounting, Operation & Maintenance manuals supplied together equipments an parts. - "Cross fingers" and open the penstock valve before turbine and try the start opening turbine nozzles or turbine flow regulator device, step by step an check nominal RPM.....Analize power plant behavior. If problems arise, keep quiet, think quickly, take good actions and never runaway with customer looking you. - Be careful with "Murphy's laws". If any guy have other points to add please comment an put in the list. If there are some wrong points in my list, comments or corrections will be welcomed.
