Hello all- My name is Matt Engelman and I'm a new member contemplating a micro- hydro project on a small stream that runs through my property. Thank you all for participating in such an interesting forum, I have enjoyed reading it and learning.
I am considering a small axial flow turbine for my project as I only have about 20' of head but moderate flow. I was thinking about using an old jet ski pump assembly as they seem to offer close tolerances and seem well engineered. There are often several mostly complete salvaged models available on ebay for less than $100. Here's an example: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?
