Dear Microhydro Group,

Hello, my name is Benjamin Reeser and I am currently a Peace Corps
Environmental Volunteer in Morocco. Recently I have been investigating the
possibility of implementing a micro-hydro installation in the village I
currently live in. I am writing this in hopes of locating someone
experienced in the field of micro-hydro site development of whom I can ask
questions about the design and implementation of the installation. Below is
a small description of my site and the development I have done so far.

Bat'Ha: Located approximately 200km south east of Fez in north eastern
Morocco. The village consists of mountain side sustenance farming among a
small population. Currently there are 28 inhabited houses with an average of
6 persons per house. The village is accessible by a dirt mountain road
approximately 30km from the paved road. The village lies within a bowl
canyon against the highest mountain in the region at an average elevation of
1400m. The village supports a large amount of high water dependant
crops(corn, tomatoes, etc) unlike the surrounding villages due to the high
availability of water in the canyon, multiple springs from higher up the
mountain feed a large network of earth rendered irrigation canales. Recently
there has been a small regional association formed that is willing to
provide service for power regulation in further stages of development(i.e.,
power meters)The local in which I plan to implement the hydro installation
is located above the implementation of the canal network, fed by the largest
spring. From the small reference material I have acquired, I have made some
preliminary measurements regarding the installation. The averaged flow of
the spot at its lowest point(dry season) is 11.52liters/sec. Also the head,
or height from where I would like to start the penstock to its turbine
connection is 55.5m. These are all preliminary measurements done from the
reference material I have. Again any insight would be greatly appreciated on
the next step I should take in the development of this project. Further
plans have been drawn up however I would like to first consult with those in
the field with experience before I move on. If you are willing and have the
time please drop me a line at [EMAIL PROTECTED]

  Thank you again,

 Sincerely
