Hi Joseph, Send me your contact details (email, phone) and I'll get in touch with you to talk about a few village electrification projects we have happening in PNG, mostly around Lae and New Ireland. There is a 40kW project happening around Tapini, a village north of Moresby in the hills, but I can't remember the name of the engineering company responsible - maybe M&E Partnership (3217844), but really not sure. If you call PNG Incentive Fund, who are funding it, on 3201926, someone there should be able to confirm the contracting engineer. Cheers, Stewart Craine www.barefootpower.com +679 9344227

They don't want old dams either, and lobby to have them removed. Note the "could be" in the complaint. Hydro dams also have so much concentrated mass that they "could" attract meteors, possibly causing a terrible loss of life, especially little children and babies (who couldn't run away as fast [we presume]). This idea does not pass the reasonability test. The dam does not create the vegetation. Some of it may die and rot due to the construction of the dam, but it would have died sooner or later. There may be a short term and minor spike in the CO2, but I imagine it's nothing compared to the slash and burn clear cutting going on in South America and other third world areas for other reasons besides hydro dams.
