Hydro output is 24 Amps at 24VDC. Final assembly and start up was
delayed by the need to move and reinstall our power center due to an
ongoing home remodeling project. We've had water flow for over a
month, but with the rain came short days and cold, which slowed
progress even more.

I made the final connections Saturday morning and after checking
everything twice, I dropped the intake into the pond. Then I went
down below and opened the gate valve on the smallest jet, 3/16".
Heard the turbine wind up and jumped on the 4 wheeler, raced back up
to check the Ammeter. Nothing. Called Derik at Hi Power, he said
must be not enough jet, open another one. As I start down, Friend
John, who came over to watch the historic event, says, "It looks
like the meter is deflecting backward." (John is a power manager for
TVA.)

I looked, but it was just a tiny deflection, so I raced back down to
turn on another jet. When I got back, sure enough, the meter was
now pegged backward. But I looked at the battery voltage and it was
coming up steady, over 25 VDC by then. Called Derik again. We
determined that indeed the meter was marked backward. (Long story,
see earlier report on damaged shipment.)

I swapped the meter wires and voila, 17 Amps! I tried opening the
other two jet valves but that dropped the water pressure too much,
so I shut them back off, till I figured out that I needed to close
off the Anti siphon tubes in the penstock. Now with the four
smallest jets open, we are seeing a steady 23-24 Amps.

I will add some more photos to the Happy Bottom P & L Album of the
mostly finished project. I still have some tidying up to do. But it
works. What a relief.
