Job Title: Senior Sybase DBA
Location: Chicago, IL
Responsibilities
Responsibility will be in support of the Sybase database environment
Supporting and maintaining ASE production support, stored procedures,
troubleshooting,
system sizing, system integration, upgrades, platform migration, and monitoring
Proactively foster best practices with development groups and other users
Will work with developers to identify and resolve potential production
impacting
issues
Will work to gain an understanding of business data requirements and, in turn,
integrate business vertical operational data needs into the physical enterprise
data model
Participate in 24x7 DBA on-call rotation
Extensive knowledge with Replication Technology (warm standby, MSA, Mirror
Activator,
peer to peer and object level replication)
Able to perform operational procedures and maintain records
Familiar with creating and maintaining Sybase IQ environments
Requirements
10 years experience as Senior Database Administrator in an operational role
Possess a thorough understanding of required project objectives and the
technical
work/documentation needed to produce desired results
Enjoy rapid change within a small-medium sized, entrepreneurial,
technology-driven
culture
Possess superior business intellect in addition to a technical intellect
Exhibit high standards of performance for self and team as evidenced by quality
of personal work and team outputs
Possess effective interpersonal and time management skills
Have ability to develop and test production utilities
Possess the ability to communicate issues and work in a team oriented
environment
toward their resolution is critical to the success of this position
Be hands-on and capable of executing rapidly as an individual as well as a
manager
Must have 24x7 operations support experience
