Please respond with Local to MA candidates We are upgrading our PeopleSoft 8.0 HRMS to PeopleSoft HRMS version 9.0 MP5, to be hosted on UNIX-AIX. The individual must possess hands-on operational duties of all AIX hosts maintained by the Hosting Services business unit within the Information Technology Division. *POSITION OVERVIEW:* - Review architectural designs and project plans for all new initiatives. - Adherence to technical policies, standards and best practices set forth by Hosting Services and ITD management. - Participate in project meetings and communicate results to Hosting Services team. - Build systems according to agreed specifications and/or Statement of Work. - Assist Management for identifying opportunities for continuous improvement and reduction of operational costs - Evaluate existing environments to recommend changes that will create optimal performance - Provide metrics and monitor systems by use of: - HP Openview. - Other OS specific monitoring tools available - Manage incidents and resolve issues within SLA guidelines: - Lead effort in troubleshooting efforts - Provide options and status to management team - Resolve the issue in an agreed upon timely manner - Document all work done during troubleshooting and resolution - Relate common issues and propose enterprise wide solutions when appropriate - Provide infrastructure services to the AIX OS community. - Maintain system patching levels to an N-1 level: - Firmware/Microcode/BIOS/drivers - Security and other OS related software - Demonstrate success by system/review, vendor support matrix, etc. - Create and/or maintain current documentation for environments supported - Carry pager and provide off-hours support - Participate in disaster recovery exercises/efforts, including travel to remote recovery locations when necessary - Ability to work independently, as part of a team, or lead a small technical team if appropriate - Cross-train and mentor other AIX system administrators when appropriate - Be results oriented with excellent customer relationship skills · Establish harmonious working relationships with team members, ITD staff, and customers - Work on and complete assigned projects in a timely manner *REQUIRED SKILLS / EXPERIENCE (2 years mandatory minimum experience):* - Direct experience administering hosts running AIX 5.3 or greater operating systems. - Working knowledge of AIX tools and utilities such as: LPAR/DLPAR, VIO server, mksysb, HACMP, LVM mirroring/striping - Demonstrated ability to analyze and measure system performance, capacity and availability. - Networking concepts: - TCPIP, VLANs, Subnets, OSI models - Ability to automate repetitive tasks using shell scripts (sh and ksh). - Excellent troubleshooting skills. *ADDITIONAL SKILLS / EXPERIENCE (preferred):* - Enterprise class storage: - EMC Symmetric, Clarion and NAS devices. - Legato Networker backup client. - Disaster recovery experience.
