After figuring out that the town of Churchill was not somewhere between
Saugerties and Catskill, I went into my own back yard to see what was going
on there. I was treated to a double concerto, our year-round Northern
Mockingbird singing from the top of the black locust and the first Brown
Thrasher belting out its couplets from the top of an ash tree. Earlier this
morning a member of our household was fooled by another mimic-- a Blue Jay
doing the Red-tailed Hawk scream made him look, the dirty crook.
