Hi Elisa -

I've been having the best luck on the Cary Institute internal roadway,
especially the roads between Fowler Road and Rt 82 (you can enter from Rt 82
across from the Greenhouse but they don't unlock the gates until 8:30 am,
you could take Nardone Rd to Fowler Road and park there at one of the
parking areas and walk in ). There were many yellow, blue-winged and common
yellowthroats there yesterday, as well as rose-breasted grosbeaks and the
usuals (kestrels, bluebirds, eastern meadowlark, RT hawk, wood duck, etc). I
sighted a
red-morph screech owl in a cavity two weeks ago, as well as an American
Bittern in the marsh but have't seen either of them since. I walked the Sedge
Meadow trail at Gifford house last evening around 5:30 pm, and it was fairly
quiet - heard a
blue-winged warbler, lots of catbirds, a killdeer, sparrows, swallows.... I
didn't see or hear a single bird in the Fern Glen.

Good birding!
