Monday, July 12, 2010 - Saugerties Lighthouse

A short walk this morning at low tide produced an unusual cluster of 15
Great Blue Herons in the cove on the south side of the creek opposite the
lighthouse; the usual Bald Eagle; and an Osprey. The Veeries and Willow
Flycatchers which had been present the past two months have either left or
are just too quiet to notice. The DC Cormorants appear to have successfully
nested again on the channel marker north of the lighthouse. Marsh Wrens are
singing again after being quiet - or gone - for a few weeks. No shorebirds
or terns noticed yet but I keep hoping.
