Karl Good info. Thanks.  In the case I cited, an auxiliary centerline fuel take for the A310 had been certified by EASA but not by the FAA. The aircraft was acquired new by Austrian. Some assumed FAA cert was automatic by virtue of the EASA cert, but the FAA reserved its own separate certification authority over fuel tanks.  As a result the aircraft could not obtain an FAA certificate of airworthiness without subjecting the aircraft (actually, the installation/process) to separate FAA approval processes.  Scott On Jul 2, 2025, at 6:56 PM, Karl L.
