Vaughn Cordle was invoked as some kind of a victim of Mifnet. As I recall, Vaughn is a highly intelligent person who elicited harsh responses because he consistently invoked insults upon any and all who disagreed with him. He had a favorite epithet which he hurled frequently, "bonehead".
I do not agree that he was a hapless victim of Mifnet politics, due to his being the progenitor of numerous purposefully incendiary discussions, and highly disdainful of other opinions. There were some who expressed their dislike for Vaughn, yes, others who argued his premise based upon facts and economic policy, but I believe that his situation in Mifnet discourse was to a large extent self-created and -perpetuating because he appeared to enjoy inciting and partaking of bellicose, pugilistic debates while ridiculing those who hold different opiniond. Much of the sniping, on all sides, came from cowardly anonymous posters who liked rolling grenades into the chat room but did not identify themselves, even upon request. It appears that we have eliminated that problem - thank you, David. The last we heard from Vaughn, he was insulting all the boneheads for their boneheaded beliefs while arguing vehemently and unequivocably that Covid would be over after ~13 weeks (I don't recall the exact number.) He has not been heard from since, and some have inquired after him, occasionally, for some time. Aviation is so affected by politics that it cannot be completely avoided in our group. Perhaps the geared transmission metallurgy engineers chat group can avoid politics completely, but it's bound to arise in Mifnet discussions. The simple remedy is to be as factual as possible with such topics, and respectful to others. Thank you. TR
