I have been travelling to Malta almost every year for the past 50,
returning from our latest vacation there only last Thursday. It is the
smallest country in the EU (only 18 by 10 miles in size) but has been
completely transformed by EU money/subsidy. It is certainly thriving
today, with a growing and significant aviation sector. Unfortunately the
old corruption and bad driving persist. Most importantly, of course, a
very common local name is "Mifsud".

Malta is booming as a business and tourist destination. There is
nothing "iffy" about a direct flight there, in my mind, and my proof is
that Delta is dedicating B767-300s to the route; it wouldn't surprise
me if it becomes year-round with A321XLR.
