Not claiming to be an expert on such things, but the DC10-10 (AA ORD incident) 
was powered by an early CF6 variant, whereas the UPS MD11 had a much newer 
version of the CF6.  (Were the nacelles different as well?)  And so, might 
there be less β€œcommonality” between the two airplanes and thus the two 
incidents than some here (and elsewhere) have cited?

Re Mike B's comment on Boeing "in trouble again." The MD designation may be 
helpful in this case, since non-Mifnetters, 

i.e., the general public, will probably not make the corporate connection. The 
only future rsisk I can imagine here would be if

some kind of generic problem shows up with Delta's 717s. "Hey Charlie, get the 
press release to specify it was really an MD-95."
