Hello all,

For a long while now, we've anticipated the need to create a separate
users mailing list to provide a means for less technical Mifos
discussion Mifos from the perspective of those implementing and using
the software on a day to day basis. Based on feedback from the active
discussion the community had back in August -
http://tinyurl.com/6s6am5, we've created the mifos-users mailing list.

By having this separate mailing list, we can provide a greater focus for
technical and functional discussions on mifos-developer and
mifos-functional while providing an active channel for the huge range of
topics that have come up from Mifos Specialists leading deployment of
Mifos and end users using Mifos. Hopefully this will become a vibrant
channel to further the community's peer support of ongoing Mifos
deployments.

The full description of the list along with links to the mirror archives
can be found on mifos.org - http://tinyurl.com/6n2dgh. < Graeme, thanks
for the start ;) > Sample discussion topics include:

# Discussion on installation and configuration issues
# Advice on database, operating system, security, and network setup
# Suggestions on configuration options
# Basic troubleshooting and resolutions to common errors
# Advice on building out a training and post-deployment support plan
# Sharing best practices and tips on effectively using Mifos

With the new mailing list and the broad range of topics for discussion,
we have posted a simple matrix to help you understand where to post -
http://www.mifos.org/developers/listserv/mailing-list-topics.

We've also created another new mailing list, mifos-announce, to send out
periodic announcements regarding major releases and security upgrades.
Volume will be low with only important announcements from the Mifos team
being sent out so it's highly recommend that all community members
subscribe.

As always, please join the Mifos IRC chatroom at Mifos#IRC where you'll
find active discussion amongst both our staff and community. Visit

Best,

Ed Cable
