I've installed the latest version of the banner on the [test
site|http://beta.mifos.org]. The main feature enhancements are
* The top blue banner includes the slide title that fades in and out with the
slide.
* Overlaying approximately the bottom fourth of the slide is a semi-transparent
block including a headline and "read more" block. The headline can be up to
three lines long without bleeding out of the block.
You can customize the banner by adding or removing slides and accompanying
information. To do that
* Create instances of content type "Banner Entry".
* To display an entry, publish it and promote it to the front page.
* To hide an entry, un-promote it.
Please test the site and let me know whether it's ready for prime time.
Some comments on the design:
* The banner is located somewhat down the page from the top of the home page.
On my laptop set at 1440 X 900 the banner runs slightly off the bottom of my
browser window. At lower resolutions it drops further off the page. It would be
much more effective IMHO to display the banner more prominently at the top of
the page like [the site you (Ed) pointed out to me|http://www.ushahidi.com/].
* There's a small issue with zooming. If a viewer zooms in, the "read more"
block gets clipped out of view. I don't know if this is critical -- I'll try to
fix it.
