Hi All,

I checked meeting notes from yesterday's User Meetup and I'd like to correct some answers related to Loan & Savings import functionality.

What are the restrictions on duplicate data? >> Lukasz: currently only validation on file.

Restrictions in duplicate data are not validated on file, they are validated by Mifos. Loan & Savings import functionality has validation which prevents from importing duplicate data. If row in the file contains for example the same account number as account which is already in Mifos system, then this row will be rejected and error message will be displayed in red on 'Import Loans' page. Import functionality is designed in the way that it analyzes selected file before import and every row with errors is listed in red on 'Import Loans' page before submitting.

Shiva: are you storing this data on any temporary table or just importing it directly into core database tables? >> Lukasz: D

All new accounts are created directly in core tables, after they successfully pass validation process and file is submitted on 'Import Loans' page.

Shiva: can this be used for data migration tool >> Lukasz: just for new loan or savings account

Currently, Import loans/savings functionality allows only to create Loans with actual or future disbursal dates. However, it is possible to change system date to past date before import and then create Loan accounts. After that you can use Import Transactions functionality to obtain desired Loan Balance. We are planning to improve this functionality to allow also importing historical loans without changing system date.

Any status update on file for which transactions have not going through? >> Lukasz: just through log >> Shiva: Would recommend processing data into a temporary table so can keep track of which have failed and which have been successful.

Currently, imported files are not stored in any temporary table and rows that are not imported are only listed on 'Import Loans' page. We will improve this, to store information about imported files to keep track which file failed and which have been successful.

From chat (Patrick): For importing the loan details, apart from the global refence check does this feature also check the figures. For example if the wrong values are providing. Like instead of numbers the person enters text >> Lukasz: text instead of numbers will cause validation error preventing import.

Import Loans/Savings validation checks every row and cell of the file to determine if it contains proper values for example if loan amount is a number. When it encounters any error then on 'Import Loans' page, message is displayed in red - which row and column is wrong and what is wrong.

From chat (Praveen): Grace Period is a part of product defination right? how that can be given in loan disbursement parameter? Bit confusion.

Grace Period is a part of a product but you have possibility to modify the default value during import. When you are normally creating a new loan account in Mifos, you also have possibility to modify default Loan amount, number of installments or Grace period.

If our demonstration was not satisfactory for you, we will be happy to demonstrate Loan/Savings import functionality again on the next User meetup to dispel all your doubts.

If you have any other questions/suggestions about import functionality, please let me know.

Best regards,
Lukasz
