Hi Martin, Did you change your MySQL root password? Can you make sure your MySQL server is started and running (you can check in windows services)?
On un installation of MySQL some times won't remove all files completely which causes issue, you need to completely delete all MySQL related installed files (search for mysql) then proceed for fresh installation. Please don't forget to remember the root password, I suggest you to set password as "password" which is easy to remember can be changed at any point of time.
