I may need to get them, what do you want...

My main path covers several hops so am using several different frequencies. I keep an eye on what is coming in and going out of a particular tower and plan for at least the recommended separation between freqs. Most often I am able to separate more than that. Also I change polarities to further the separation.

Two separate antennas, I couldn't get dual pols to push enough through them even though the were good quality (radiowaves). Anybody want them?

Terri,

Thanks for the tips. Would you mind sharing a little more about your setup? You're using Nstreme dual on a 433ah's, right? What frequencies are you using? Both 5.8, or 5.2 and 5.8? Any cross-talk interference issues? Anything you do to alleviate that?

You also mention dual-polarity antennas. Are you using single antennas on both polarities, or two separate antennas on each end? If so, why the dual-pols?

Thanks!

Randy

Two items to consider I think. First is dual polarity antennas. I had issues using RadioWave dual pole antennas. Throughput was not good at all. Went to two pacwireless antennas with good separation between them and throughput improved greatly.

On using 532's, That is what I started with. CPU use went high and went to 333s. That became high so went to 433AHs. So far putting 32meg (top end of our network use) through them, cpu use is around 50%. So they are doing nicely for me. This is on the nstreme dual backhaul with no connection tracking.

I also put the radios up by the antennas. I can't see how anyone could

Maybe since you are using the good 4xx boards and I am using the 532s we're getting very different results. I have had so many problems with 532s.

What kind of throughput do you see?

On the main backhauls I am using nstreme dual with 433ah boards and xr5 radios. Depending on the distiace I use grids, 2ft dishes or 3ft dishes. On the minor backhauls I am just using nstreme with the same equipment. I have been been pleased with the performance in both situations. In all the 5gig stuff, we put the units at the top of the tower off of a jumper to the antenna since loss is high over long runs. Even using 7/8" heliax I have found around a 20db difference between having the unit at the top and and at the bottom (apprx 130' run of heliax). I set the nstreme dual for best fit
and framer of 3500.

Would you mind sharing what you do as far as backhauls?

I have two pairs of routerboards for backhauls and haven't been as pleased as I am with Redline AN50s. Especially when they were on nstreme dual
config (now I am using Butch's OSPF pseudo FDX method).

Don't see why going the higher for the ap. I use 411ah for APs and 433ah
for backhauls. That works well for me pushing quite a bit of bandwidth.

The only difference in the two boards is the 64 vs 128 megs of RAM. Does

anyone know of a reason to justify the extra memory?

None of my APs come close to the 64 megs but they are currently only
acting
as APs (routing, fw connection/NAT) and PPPoE servers.

Does anyone use the 411ah for APs? Pleased?
