That's happened to me on Every SL2 that I've tried to use. 
It really makes no sense because inside they're almost identical to the
other radios and tranzeo will tell you that. But their performance is
horrible. 
I have not yet been able to use one successfully other than at extremely
close (less than 1/2 mile) distances. So IMHO they're just junk, and now
that I see tranzeo has lowered the price, I can see they're trying to
offload them. Seems they know it too.
