I have had a behavior which frankly I cannot explain and perhaps y'all can 
help. At times there is a slow down when sending email, smtp. The closest I can 
come to describing it is it is as if I have added QOS where SMTP is rated lower 
( not as important) as other services and when those others are active then it 
may take up to a minute for email to go out. After gathering some facts, it 
doesn't appear as if this is related to just our "outgoing" server but to any 
smtp traffic. Now for some items that may help y'all think of why this is 
happening.

I have not instituted any QOS on this network other than p2p and limiting 
bandwidth to max 3meg total for a particular IP via simple queues. The various 
bandwidth (speed) restrictions/packages  are handled by another method. I have 
had one customer, who is somewhat competent on computers and network say it is 
occurring between his cpe and the AP. I have this happen on my connection to my 
AP and mine is a dedicated connection meaning I am the only one on that AP. 
Software, RouterOS is current 3.x, haven't moved it to 4.x. Other traffic 
appears to be flowing normally which in my case would be items such as voip, 
video and the other more mundane internet traffic.

Any thoughts as to why the slow down on sending emails?
