Subject: Re: [Mikrotik] Mikrotik DNS server can't resolve www.google.com

I've been having the same issue all week. We use OpenDNS servers
everywhere. I'm used to Google popping up instantly.
I did a quick "host google.com" while using OpenDNS and found that it did
take a moment, and I got a reply of something like
google.blahblahblah.opendns.com. What?!?

So I switched to using Google's public DNS and since then, 100% improvement.

We don't use OpenDNS's extra added features and it concerns me that they'd
be jacking with my resolution of google.com.
Google Public DNS specifically says they won't jerk your resolutions
around. I don't know why, but I trust what they say.

For now, we're going to go with Google Public DNS everywhere. After testing
about 10 different ones, their response time was about 2nd.

Dec 4 Friday around 4PM I switched my MT from OpenDNS to Google's DNS.
Worked well.

About an hour ago I changed back to OpenDNS. At 10:37PM EST I couldn't
resolve www.google.com.

I set max-udp-packet-size=1024 and flushed the MT, then my PC.

Let's see how this chugs along.
