A few days ago, I swapped out a Powerrouter that had a couple of bad ethernet ports for a new one. I did a backup on the old router, and a restore on the new one to transfer the config over. After installing the new router, I noticed that the LCD display was suddenly functional, displaying CPU usage and uptime. I thought this was odd because none of my other powerrouters (including the one I had just pulled) did this. They all just said "Network Appliance" on the LCD. Anyway, I thought "great"! I've always wondered if it was possible to get the LCD to work.

Well, now come today, and I have a customer complaining about RDP sessions getting dropped. I started digging into it, and found that every 20 seconds, this router shows this in the routing table:

 0 ADS 0.0.0.0/0 r 10.112.207.216 1 WriteLCD
 1 Do 0.0.0.0/0 r 10.1.1.140 110 ether6
 2 ADo 10.1.1.0/28 r 10.2.1.145 110 ether5
 3 ADo 10.1.1.24/30 r 10.2.1.145 110 ether5

Entry #1 is the legitimate default route. So where in the heck is that WriteLCD interface coming from and why am I getting a default route to it? It only appears every 20 seconds, and then disappears. When I do a /interface print, I also get this every 20 seconds:

 0 R ether1 ether 1500
 1 R ether2 ether 1500
 2 R ether3 ether 1500
 3 R ether4 ether 1500
 4 R ether5 ether 1500
 5 R ether6 ether 1500
 6 R ether7 ether 1500
 7 R WriteLCD ppp-out

I'm guessing this screwy default route is what is causing my customer's RDP problem, and I'm guessing it's related to my now functioning LCD. So, how do I stop it from screwing up my routing table?

Craig
