The Swedish Institute, a public agency for cultural and educational
exchange with individuals and institutions abroad, hereby announces a
number of GUEST SCHOLARSHIPS for the academic year 2007/ 2008
(September 2007 - May 2008). The scholarships are applied for in
global competition and are open to foreign students/researchers who
wish to come to Sweden as guest students and who do not intend to
settle permanently in Sweden.

GENERAL CRITERIA

Citizenship
In principle, the Guest Scholarships are open for students from any
part of the world except from the Nordic countries (Denmark, Finland,
Iceland, Norway and Sweden). However, the Swedish Institute also
administers a regional scholarship programmes, the Visby Programme
(Belarus, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Northwest Russia -
including Moscow - and Ukraine). Applicants from these regions should
submit the application within this programme only. There are no
national quotas. The Swedish Institute will distribute the
scholarships as evenly as possible among applicants from different
geographical areas.

Age
There is no age limit.

Study level
The scholarships are intended for students at advanced university
level, for part of Ph.D. or post-doc studies at any university or
university college in Sweden or for participation in a Master's Level
Programme. There are no scholarships available for undergraduate
studies. The scholarships cannot be granted for a complete course of
study leading to a Ph.D. degree.
